Winning the St. Louis Park Human Rights Award
Earlier this year, the St. Louis Park Human Rights Commission presented Nadia with the 2018 Human Rights Award for her work to increase cooperation and understanding between people of different backgrounds. A member of the St. Louis Park Multicultural Advisory Committee for the past three years, Nadia has been active in SLP and surrounding communities, helping to improve interactions and build relationships with minorities through events, classes, and conversations. Inviting the community to Iftar dinners
In partnership with the St. Louis Park Police Department, the Multicultural Advisory Committee, including Nadia, has hosted approximately 100 SLP residents at each Iftar dinner for the past three years. Their goal? To enable residents to get better acquainted with Muslim neighbors and understand the true meaning of Islam.

Serving up compassion, sweet potato pie
After the October 2017 bombing in Mogadishu, Somalia, St. Louis Park police officers and members of the Multicultural Advisory Committee, including Nadia, hosted a community gathering. As always, St.Louis Park residents showed up to support those who were grieving. Over sweet potato pie, attendees shared in compassion and dialogue, strengthening the bonds of our community.
