MEET NADIA

New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

St. Louis Park is my hometown. I grew up here and graduated from St. Louis Park High School. But I didn’t always live here. My family came to the United States when I was a child, and SLP has always generously welcomed us, ensuring our success in this new environment.

Subscribing to the idea of "to whom much is given, much is expected," I have served for the past three years on the St. Louis Park Police Department's Multicultural Advisory Committee, helping to connect communities across cultures by hosting events that enabled participants to talk about issues that matter today. Earlier this year, I was honored to be the co-recipient of the St. Louis Park Human Rights Award. This experience has helped me understand what can be achieved through civic activity.

Now my hope is to serve my city as a council member. Not only would I be able to give back even more to the community that has supported my family in so many ways, but the city council could better reflect the beautiful diversity found in St. Louis Park.

As a young adult and a Muslim woman of color, I would bring a fresh perspective to our city leadership. I have unique life experiences and a passion for the betterment of our city and its residents. I also know the significance of building spaces where people feel safe and accepted — that's the vision I have for St. Louis Park: I want the city to be a place where people can be their whole selves, and participate in their neighborhoods and communities.
